Can you shortcut an infinite combo loop where the overall outcome is deterministic, but individual iterations involve random card order that causes different (but equivalent) execution paths each loop?

Answer

Ruling: No, this loop cannot be shortcut and must be played out manually.

Nuances:

  • Even though the decision tree is deterministic and both branches result in the same game state, the non-deterministic element (random card order affecting which branch is taken on each iteration) prevents shortcutting
  • The rule states that if a sequence of actions is non-deterministic, it may not be shortcut and iterations must be performed manually
