if I discard patched poro bot with Hawei what happens? do I pick both or just 1

Both — you get both effects; you don't pick.

Patched Porobot has two card types (Unit and Gear), and Hwei's ability checks the discarded card's type — not "choose one." A card with multiple types has the properties of all of its types (Rule 178.1), and can be affected by effects that interact with any of its types (Rule 178.3). So discarding it with Hwei gives you both the Gear branch (ready up to 2 runes) and the Unit branch (+3 [S] to Hwei this turn).

One extra note: Patched Porobot's own "When you play me" draw doesn't trigger — discarding doesn't activate a card's normal rules text (Rule 422.1).
