If my opponent plays Promising Future and chooses Dazzling Aurora and I choose Acceptable Losses, does Acceptable Losses kill the Dazzling Aurora?
Yes, this is due to the sequence of Promising Future.
When your opponent plays Promising Future, they decide first which card to banish (in this case Dazzling Aurora). Then you decide which to banish (Acceptable Losses).
To complete the Promising Future resolution, you put your chosen card on the chain first and as a pending item. Then the opponent does the same.
With Promising Future fully resolved we can start finalizing the pending items on the chain. This is done up the chain, first pending item gets finalized first.
So this is your Acceptable Losses. And as a spell, it lingers on the chain.
Important: Acceptable Losses does not target. It says "Each player kills one of their gear."
Second, we finalize Dazzling Aurora. And as a gear it enters play immediately.
Now with all items on the chain finalized, we can start resolving down the chain (LIFO).
Only 1 item remains on the chain though, Acceptable Losses. This resolves and its effect goes through.
If your opponent has no other gear besides Dazzling Aurora, they will be forced to kill it.
