My enemy has a Crab and Heron in BF1. I attack with a 2 Might unit there. Can I assign the 2 damage on Heron?

Answer

Yes, you can put all 2 damage on Heron.

Damage assignment doesn't force you to kill anyone. Rule 465.2.c.3 only says you must finish lethal on a unit before moving to a different one — but you get to choose which unit to assign to first. So you pick Heron, dump 2 damage on it, and stop: Crab takes nothing and survives. FAQ #9846 confirms this directly: with no Tanks, you can assign all damage to a big unit and leave a small one undamaged. Crab is a 0 Might unit and 1 damage would be lethal to it, but you're never obligated to assign it.
