Answer

Yes — unit A keeps its Empowered status.

Being Empowered is a status, not a copyable trait. Shady Spectacles' copy effect only replaces the copied unit's printed/copied traits (Name, Type, Tags, Cost, Domain, Rules Text), so unit A's existing statuses — Empowered, buffs, Temporary, etc. — stay right where they are (FAQ #11745, Rule 477.1.b.1.b). Unit A does not gain anything from B's lack of being Empowered, since B has no Empowered status to copy anyway.

One nuance: unit A now has B's rules text, including B's Empower ability — but since it's already Empowered, it can't activate that ability ("Play only if not Empowered," Rule 827.1.c.1; Rule 441.1.b). If it ever gets disempowered, the copied Empower ability would then be usable.
