Answer

First the combat damage will apply, killing the opposing unit and triggering Zhonya's Hourglass. After this the Ruined Rex Deathknell will trigger.

This deathknell is also after the combat healing step. So the damage will stick until the next healing event.

RJ assumed zhonya's for the wrong player
