Yes — Gust it in reaction to the play trigger and Bedeviling Stranger's ability does nothing.

The unit itself can't be responded to, but "When you play me" goes on the chain after it lands, and Gust is a Reaction spell that can hit it there (Stranger is only 2 Might, and it's at a battlefield). Once Gust returns it to hand, the trigger still resolves but can't reference "there"/where it was played from — the information is null, so it mistargets and the return-an-enemy-unit instruction is ignored (Rule 811.1.d.3.a; same pattern as FAQ #31 for Tideturner).

Note the check for "4 or more units there" doesn't save it — the whole instruction fails because the source is no longer on the board.
