Answer

Ruling: You can score on an enemy's turn by flashing out and using Ride the Wind to move back in, even as the defender. You lose control of the battlefield when you flash out (per rule about losing control when you have no units), and when you regain control, you can score if you haven't already scored that battlefield this turn.

Sequence:

  • Enemy attacks your battlefield
  • You use Flash/similar effect to move your units out
  • You lose control of the battlefield when you have no units there
  • You use Ride the Wind to move units back in
  • You win the showdown and gain control
  • You score (assuming you haven't scored that battlefield this turn)

Nuances:

  • Tideturner variations don't work because all the switching happens within the same effect resolution, and while switching units it won't count as having no units at the battlefield
  • The current comprehensive rules have some contradictions regarding control changes that will need clarification
  • Red text confirms you can score from active defense where you move into an open showdown as a defender without ever having prior control
  • Whether Tideturner can ever score on an enemy turn remains unclear and hotly debated with no clear rules conclusion
