In a Summoner Skirmish, a Kai'Sa player forgot to ready their legend during the awaken phase and it was noticed halfway through the turn. What is the ruling and what penalties should be issued?

Answer

Ruling: Both players receive warnings - the Kai'Sa player gets a General Error warning and the opponent gets a Failure to Maintain Game State warning. If a full turn has not passed, ready the Kai'Sa and continue play.

Nuances:

  • If it's still the same turn when noticed, the legend should be readied mid-turn with no penalty (based on CN judging precedent)
  • If a full turn has passed or too much has happened to rewind, continue playing without readying
  • Readying is a game action you are owed, not a trigger
  • The current Tournament Rules lack a "scalpel rewind" remedy which would be ideal for these situations
