Ruling: When your opponent contests a battlefield and you Rush to War into it, your opponent becomes the attacker and you become the defender. Stalwart Poro does not get the +1 bonus because it is the attacker, not the defender.

Sequence:

• Opponent moves unit to contest the battlefield (non-combat showdown)
• You Rush to War, moving a unit in and staging a combat showdown
• After the first showdown ends, the second (combat) showdown starts
• The player contesting is designated as the attacker
• You are designated as the defender
