Ruling: If you remove a unit after the showdown has started (combat has begun), the combat will finish completely with a defined winner, and Draven's legend ability will trigger allowing you to draw since your unit remained. However, if you remove the unit before the showdown begins, no combat happens.

Sequence:

• A move completes and triggers a cleanup
• If opposing units are on the same battlefield during cleanup with no items on the Chain, combat is staged and immediately begins
• Showdown is the first step of combat
• If a unit is removed during showdown (after combat has started), combat still fully resolves
• The remaining unit is considered the winner

Nuances:

• Timing matters: removing a unit before showdown begins prevents combat entirely, but removing it after showdown starts does not stop combat from resolving
• If you move to another battlefield mid-showdown and get removed before that new showdown starts, that new combat becomes unstaged
• Combat and the Combat Damage Step are different things that people often conflate
