Answer

Ruling: A 'Buff' is a specific game object that gives +1 Might and is represented by a physical token. Temporary might bonuses (like from Dune Drake's attack trigger) are not Buffs. A unit can only have one Buff at a time.

Sequence:

  • If a unit doesn't have a Buff, it can receive one (gaining +1 Might)
  • If a unit already has a Buff, you can target it with another buff effect, but it won't gain a second Buff and nothing happens
  • The unit does not accumulate multiple Buffs to spend later

Nuances:

  • You can activate an effect that would buff a unit by targeting an already buffed unit, but the effect won't do anything and the unit won't consider itself buffed again
  • Temporary might bonuses from card effects are colloquially called 'buffs' but are mechanically distinct from the Buff game object
