Answer

Ruling: If targets are chosen before Fiora becomes mighty, the opponent does not have to pay Deflect because she has already been chosen as a target.

Sequence:

  • Falling Star is played
  • Opponent chooses Fiora with both 3 damage spells (while she is at 4 might)
  • Triggers go on the chain
  • En Garde is played to make Fiora mighty
  • Opponent does not pay Deflect because targets were already chosen

Nuances:

  • If En Garde is played in reaction to Falling Star before targets are chosen, the opponent would have to pay the Deflect costs
  • In the scenario where Deflect is enabled before target selection, the player with Falling Star can choose other valid targets if available
