Can Switcheroo be triggered before Ezreal Dashing's unit effect (dealing damage equal to his might when attacking or defending)?

Answer

Ruling: When Switcheroo is played from hidden, it can be played in response to Ezreal's attack/defend trigger before it resolves. When Ezreal's trigger resolves, it will check his Might at that time to determine damage dealt. However, when Switcheroo is played from hand (when you are attacking), it can only be played at action speed, so Ezreal's ability will have already resolved.

Sequence:

  • Ezreal's attack/defend trigger goes on the stack
  • If Switcheroo is hidden, it can be played as a reaction in response
  • Switcheroo resolves (swapping Ezreal's stats)
  • Ezreal's trigger resolves, checking his current Might value

Nuances:

  • Switcheroo from hidden has reaction speed and can respond to triggers
  • Switcheroo from hand is action speed only and cannot interrupt trigger resolution
  • The scenario works differently depending on whether you are attacking (Switcheroo from hand) or defending (Switcheroo from hidden)
