Answer

Ruling: Focus and priority depend on whether you're in a showdown, whether it's the initial chain, and whether the chain is empty or not.

Sequence:

  • Not during a showdown - chain is empty: Current player whose turn it is gets priority
  • Not during a showdown - chain is not empty: Owner of the next effect on chain gets priority
  • During a showdown - initial chain is resolving - chain is empty: Attacker gets focus and priority
  • During a showdown - initial chain is resolving - chain is not empty: Owner of the next effect on chain gets priority
  • During a showdown - not initial chain - chain is empty: Owner of the most recent effect's opponent (next player) gets focus and priority
  • During a showdown - not initial chain - chain is not empty: Owner of the next effect on chain gets priority

Nuances:

  • During the initial chain in a showdown, even if the attacker's ability was the last to resolve, the attacker still gets focus first when the chain is empty
