Answer

Ruling: When combat ends in a tie (both units survive), the attacker's units are recalled. The defender retains or gains control of the battlefield depending on who was the attacker.

Sequence:

  • The stunned 5-might unit deals no damage to the 3-might unit
  • The 3-might unit deals 3 damage to the 5-might unit (not enough to destroy it)
  • Both units survive, resulting in a tie
  • The attacker's units are recalled
  • Damage marked on all units is cleared since combat has resolved

Nuances:

  • If player A's unit was already on the battlefield, player B is the attacker. B's unit gets recalled and A retains control.
  • If player A was contesting an empty battlefield in the same showdown, then A would be the attacker and B the defender. A's units would be recalled, B gains control of the battlefield, and B can score it if they haven't already this turn.
