If you respond to Strike Down with Angle Shot (detaching opponent's unit and equipment), does Strike Down still deal damage?

Ruling: Strike Down will not deal damage if the equipment is detached before resolution. The spell still resolves, but with no effect since the target is checked at both activation and resolution.

Sequence:

• Strike Down is activated targeting an equipped unit
• Angle Shot is played in response, detaching the equipment
• Strike Down resolves but deals no damage because "it" (the equipped unit) no longer refers to a valid target

Nuances:

• This assumes the unit only had 1 equipment attached
