Answer

Ruling: No, you only need 1 Stupefy (not 2) to ready both Darius units. The second Darius can be played as the second card of the turn, and both Darius units will trigger and become ready with +2.

Sequence:

  • Play first Darius (exhausted)
  • Play 1x Stupefy as second card (both Darius trigger and become ready with +2) OR
  • Play first Darius (exhausted)
  • Play second Darius as second card (both Darius trigger and become ready with +2)
  • Optionally play Stupefy after

Nuances:

  • A card is considered played after it has resolved, which is why Darius can see himself as the second card played
  • Darius exists as a legal unit in the immediate moment after his resolution, which is when abilities that trigger off his resolution would trigger
  • The gamestate tracks how many cards have been played in a turn, and Darius triggers as long as he is on the field when the second card in a turn has resolved
