Answer

Ruling: No, you cannot conquer a location you already hold. A battlefield can only be scored once per turn per player, and since holding and conquering are sub-steps of scoring, you cannot hold or conquer a location if you cannot score it.

Sequence:

  • A battlefield can only be scored once per turn per player
  • Holding and conquering are sub-steps of scoring
  • If you already hold a location, you've already scored it this turn
  • Therefore you cannot conquer it again while you hold it

Nuances:

  • You also cannot conquer the same battlefield twice in a turn (even if you didn't hold it initially)
