When a unit with passive might buffs (like Draven gaining might equal to victory points) has its might swapped with another unit via Convergent Mutation or Switcheroo, does the unit regain its passive might bonuses after the swap?

Answer

Ruling: No, units do not regain their passive might bonuses after a swap effect. The swap creates a snapshot of the total might values at the time it resolves, then applies those as static increases/decreases for the remainder of the turn.

Sequence:

  • When the swap resolves, note the specific total might each unit has (including any passive bonuses)
  • The swap applies a might increase to one unit and a might decrease to the other based on those snapshot values
  • These increases/decreases persist for the remainder of the turn
  • Passive abilities do not reapply after the swap
  • However, newly gained might from subsequent actions (like scoring new victory points) still gets added

Nuances:

  • If a 9 might Draven (with passive bonuses included) swaps with a 2 might Poro, Draven becomes 2 might and Poro becomes 9 might
  • If Draven scores a new victory point after the swap, he gains +1 might (not a full recalculation of all points)
  • The swap effect works through the arithmetic layer, where the decrease from the swap overrides the passive increase
