If a player pays Repeat for a spell and the opponent responds with Defy, does Defy stop the entire spell or does the Defy also get negated?

Answer

Ruling: Defy stops the entire spell, including the Repeat effect.

Nuances:

  • Repeat does not create a second chain item; it remains part of the same spell on the chain
  • Repeat must be declared as an additional cost when playing the card, not after resolving any part of the spell's effect
