When a spell reveals cards from the top of the deck one by one until finding a unit to play, and that unit is Nocturne (who triggers 'When you look at a card in your deck'), how does the interaction work?

Answer

Ruling: The spell resolves completely first, playing Nocturne without paying power or energy and recycling the other revealed cards. Then Nocturne's trigger resolves, but it does nothing because Nocturne is already in play and no longer a valid target in the deck.

Sequence:

  • Reveal cards from top of deck one by one until finding a unit (Nocturne)
  • Play that unit without paying power or energy
  • Recycle the other revealed cards
  • Nocturne's trigger resolves but has no effect since Nocturne is already in play

Nuances:

  • Nocturne's "When you look" ability does trigger on Reveal effects (confirmed to work with cards like blue Teemo that reveal)
