When using Stupefy or other actions during a showdown, does it happen before or after damage is distributed/allocated?

Ruling: Showdown, and thus Spells like Stupefy, occur before the Damage step. You cannot assign damage first and then use Stupefy.

Sequence:

• Showdown step occurs (where spells/actions are used)
• Damage step occurs (where damage is distributed/allocated)

Nuances:

• You cannot assign 5 damage into a 4 might unit before using Stupefy to try to avoid the spell blocking your kill, since damage allocation happens after the Showdown step.
