In free-for-all games with the updated rules, when can players act outside their own turns, and is the invitation system still used?

Answer

Ruling: The invitation system has been removed. In the updated rules, there is no more "Relevant Player" concept - every player can react in combat showdowns regardless of whether they were invited.

Sequence:

  • Priority passes in turn order when an item is added to the chain
  • When the turn is in a Closed State, the next player in turn order receives priority when the current priority holder passes
  • All players can respond during combat showdowns

Nuances:

  • The old invitation system was removed because it could be abused - two players could initiate a combat showdown to prevent a third player from responding
  • In free-for-all, if player 1 attacks player 2 at a battlefront, player 3 can play cards like Stupefy targeting units in that showdown
