If Dragon's Rage targets a unit at a Battlefield and the opponent reacts with Fight or Flight to move that unit to their base, how does Dragon's Rage resolve?

Answer

Ruling: Dragon's Rage does not fizzle. The unit will move according to the declared destination, and a trigger is created targeting a different enemy unit at the unit's new location. When that trigger resolves, the units deal damage to each other.

Sequence:

  • If the destination was declared as base, there will be no movement
  • If the destination was a different battlefield, the unit moves from base to that battlefield
  • In both cases, a trigger is created targeting a different enemy unit at the unit's current location
  • When that trigger resolves, the units deal damage to each other

Nuances:

  • Riftbound does not have fizzling; effects resolve with 0 effect instead
