Answer

Ruling: Summoner Skirmish tournaments on Carde.io automatically enforce a top-8 cut after Swiss rounds. The number of Swiss rounds is determined by player count and handled automatically by the system.

Sequence:

  • Swiss rounds are played based on player count (9-16 players = 4 rounds, 17-32 players = 5 rounds, 33-64 players = 6 rounds)
  • After Swiss, automatic top-8 cut occurs
  • Top-8 seeding is determined by tiebreakers: OMW > GW > OGW
  • Matchups are 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5

Nuances:

  • The top-8 cut is mandatory for Summoner Skirmish specifically because the Carde.io system enforces it
  • For who chooses to go first in top cut: tournament rules make no distinction between top cut and Swiss, so it should be random for game 1. Some TOs have house-ruled that higher seed chooses to avoid intentional draws, but this is not an official rule.
