If I play Dragon Form into 1 Recruit token unit, what will happen and if I play Dragon Form to a Unit with 18M now, what will happen?

Here's the ruling.

Dragon Form (Order spell, 3E) reads: "Choose a unit. Its base Might becomes 5 this turn." This is a Layer 1 trait-altering effect (Rule 472.1.a.1 — "becomes" sets the base value). Layer 3 arithmetic modifiers (buffs, gear, Shield, etc.) then apply on top.

Scenario 1 — Recruit Token (1 Might)
The Recruit's base Might is set to 5. Since it has no other modifiers, its current Might is 5 for the turn. It becomes Mighty (Rule 708). At end of turn the effect expires and it reverts to base 1. Nothing else special occurs.

Scenario 2 — Unit with 18 Might
Dragon Form sets the unit's base Might to 5 in Layer 1. Then any existing arithmetic modifiers (buffs from spells, attached gear, Shield, etc.) are added back on top in Layer 3. So the final Might depends entirely on how the unit reached 18:

  • All base (e.g., a card with printed Might 18) → becomes 5.
  • Base + buffs (e.g., base 3 + 15 from spell buffs) → becomes 5 (new base) + 15 (buffs still apply) = 20.
  • Base + Shield + gear → becomes 5 + Shield (if still defending) + gear bonuses, etc.

In short: Dragon Form overwrites only the base, not the full current Might. Any ongoing bonuses still contribute.
