Emperor's Divide can be used to pull back units from multiple battlefields or just one?

No — only one battlefield. Emperor's Divide reads "any number of friendly units at a battlefield" (singular), so you pick a single battlefield and move any number of your units from that one location to base. It can't grab units from multiple battlefields (FAQ #10641). Units moved keep their current Ready/Exhausted state when they arrive.
