Yes — Thermo Beam resolves and kills the Dazzling Aurora.
Sequence: while Promising Future is resolving, your Thermo Beam is placed on the chain as a pending item first, then your opponent's Dazzling Aurora. After Promising Future finishes, pending items finalize in that order — Thermo Beam finalizes as a spell and lingers on the chain, then Dazzling Aurora finalizes and enters play as a gear. Resolution then goes down the chain (LIFO): only Thermo Beam is still on it, so it resolves and kills all gear, including the Aurora.
Two extra notes: Thermo Beam's [Action] restriction doesn't matter here — it's played as part of Promising Future's resolution (Rule 419.3), so it can't be reacted to or countered. And if your opponent had no other gear, Dazzling Aurora is the one that dies. (Mirrors FAQ #11793, the Acceptable Losses + Dazzling Aurora interaction.)

Two extra notes are both wrong.
