Sure — Riftbound's layers (CR 473–480) are the ordered system that decides how game effects modify traits, keywords, and numbers. There are three, applied top to bottom:

  1. Trait-Altering (477.1) — changes to name, supertype, type, tags, controller, cost, domain, and Might-setting effects like "Might becomes 4." Copy effects (e.g. becoming a copy of another card) also apply here.
  2. Ability-Altering (477.2) — granting/removing keywords and passive abilities, appending or removing rules text (including text from attached Gear).
  3. Arithmetic (477.3) — the +/− math on Might and costs. Increases apply before decreases, and non-passive limits are "snapshotted" at the moment they apply.

After one pass through all three, the layers loop: re-evaluate and apply any effect that newly became applicable (476). Each effect only applies once per evaluation, and once a full pass changes nothing, you're done. That's what makes things like Fiora, Victorious work — her buff raises Might in Arithmetic, the loop re-checks Layer 2, and now "While I'm Mighty" grants her Deflect, Ganking, and Shield (476.3).

When multiple effects hit the same object in the same layer: check dependency first (if one effect's application changes the other's outcome, apply the depended-on one first — 478–479), otherwise fall back to timestamp order, earliest first (480).
